I love this thing — I use it in Puget Sound (salt water) and it still looks brand new after a year or so. Has been used to push on rocky bottoms as well as a normal paddle. would buy again for sure if it ever breaks, though I don’t see it ever breaking under normal use. the handle looks a bit weird, I’m used to a “normal” wood paddle, but it works well ergo-wise, feels like the curved offset top handle give you some extra torque — it probably doesn’t, but it feels good either way.

Took the paddle on a 55 mile float down the Missouri River. Overall, I like the length and paddle, but don’t like the handle as much as it can only be held one way. It makes it a little more difficult to switch from left to right on the conoe.

Went on a 35 mile canoe trip and they held up their end of the bargain. Sturdy, and easy to handle. Strong and light. Great paddles!

The media could not be loaded. Β The blade is held to the shaft by a small pin, which could easy fail and separate in rocky conditions causing the blade to slip right off the shaft. Most paddles have the blade permanently affixed to the shaft. This design leaves much to be desired. It seems solid overall but I would not trust this paddle on even mild whitewater. I popped the blade off and glued the blade to the shaft, Iβm sure that will help a little. There are better paddles available for $10 more, I would not recommend this paddle.

This is the second Crooked Creek paddle I have bought. The first one was an all one construction which I like better but the company no longer makes them. I really like the way the top part of the paddle it made. It fits your hand perfect. The only thing that I though was going to be a problem was the lower part of the paddle is a little loose as it snaps onto the stalk of the paddle with push in snaps. I guess this is because you may be able to purchase the lower part incase it breaks for some reason. I have used it for a whole fishing season and havent had any issues with it though. I did purchase another one because it is the perfect legnth for my plastic pontoon boat.
