As a person who doesn’t normally wear boat shoes, and someone who doesn’t wear shoes without socks, I can say that these shoes are surprisingly comfortable wearing without socks. The texture of the shoe made me hesitant to wear without socks, but the interior is a comfy fit and didn’t rub or give me blisters.The only downfall I see in these shoes is that they are not a quick dry material. I wore these on a cruise, got them wet and walked in the sand, and since they aren’t magical shoes, they collected a good amount of sand on them. After rinsing then off in the room’s tub, they of course were soaking wet, and stayed very wet or very damp for almost 24 hours… there were no claims of waterproof or quick dry, just as a boat shoe promoted as an active like wearable, would expect a bit more quick drying.

I spend a lot of time standing on the deck of my bass boat fishing. These shoes are great because they have a decent cushioned insole. They also have great water drainage. Other brands I have, do not have good insoles.

The design of these doesn’t allow one to wear them without socks. I bought them for a vacation and came home with a bloody ankle from the constant chafing of the back of the shoe on the back of my ankle
