These shoes were (yes, I said WERE) awesome! Bought them specifically for our beach vacation over spring break. I always buy a size up from my kids’ current size so they get more use out of the shoes but that was a mistake. My son wore them one time to the ocean and while boogie boarding, the tough rip current ripped them right off my kiddo, well – I should clarify ONE shoe was ripped away. We ended up tossing the other one because who needs one shoe? Anyway, if I had ordered the correct size and probably ensured they were tightened up, this probably wouldnt have happened. He did like them for the few hours he had them and looked really cool. My other child is younger and chose not to wear his water shoes (same brand, different color) that day so thankfully we still have one pair and we were careful not to wear them in the ocean for the rest of the trip.

We bought leather soled moccasin-style shoes for my son until he became active enough to wear holes in them in just 2 weeks (close to 3 years old). Having a lightweight shoe with a wide toe box and completely flexible sole is so important for foot development in babies/children, and for maintaining foot health as an adult. Not only are flexible soles better for them, but they are so much more comfortable and they result in far fewer trips and falls as they learn to walk and run. These water shoes aren’t quite as wide as is ideal, but they aren’t too narrow, so they’re still good.Anyway, these water shoes have been great for just regular/everyday shoes (my son wears them with socks). They are breathable so my son doesn’t get too hot, they are flexible AF and the rubber even comes up the front to protect his toes. I can also hose them if they get gross at the park (hello goose poop) and they dry quickly. They are also super grippy so my son doesn’t slip even when doing questionable maneuvers on linoleum and they are easy to climb obstacles on playgrounds. Even though the soles are super thin, they are durable enough for the sole to last until my son outgrows the shoes and still be in pretty good condition. He also LOVES all the fun colors. We are on our 4th pair in close to 2 years (he’s a little over 4.5yo).
