I prefer the Ram Mount as far as versatility because the ball offers a high degree of articulation. But depending what you attaching you really can beat this. It slides right on my track right out of the package with no additional hardware required. I like that you can twist it tight onto the track with one hand and remove items with a simple turn. Only thing I don’t like is that it is a little wide and high so depending on the track location and the contours of your kayak deck it can be a tight squeeze. I have an Old Town Vapor and the cockpit edge does not provide for a flat open mounting surface so you have to be careful how you mount your aftermarket rails and take into account the width of the mounts that you want to put on. In my case this worked out perfect on my left side where I have a short 8 inch track. I added an extension arm and rod holder. I had enough space to put a ram mount self leveling cup holder using the aformentioned Ram Mount. Combination looks and works great. You definitely have to plan depending on the contours and profile of your kayak deck. if you have a narrow space then you may want to consider the Ram Mount Diamond base which had a different profile and is more forgiving when deck space is at a premium.

Nice product and quality made! I rated it at 4 only because of the 1 flaw it came with, needs more options of screw on the bottom. Even if I had to buy them extra, it would be worth it. I bought this for my 2018 Ascend 12T track rails to mount my Scotty bait cast holders to. Tightened all the down, with little pull down force it will pop right out of the track. So great for other things but not for rod holders (if keeping the reel locked) like when using circle hooks or drift/trolling). To fix this issue and give it more bite in the aluminum track I drilled out a washer to slide onto the track screw in the 438, then shaved the edges down to slide in with it. The washer is just a little bigger, edge to edge (but fits almost flush track side to track side) to give it more surface bite and now I can tighten it down and try to pull it down some with no popping out. My opinion, they should come with multiple screw sets for most common track rails so you can interchange them for best fit (the one that comes standard was a bit skinny for my rail and has a .25″ gap or so and that is why it pops out so easy).

Listen, these make it easier for yakers to attach to their tracks. These also work with Brocraft rod holders, so that’s another positive. The negative to me is the bottom piece is what you screw to get into track. If you tighten too much (which happens as the day goes on), It is a nightmare to get off and to get whatever you are using it it out. I’ve had a head fail already from it tightening too much. I’d advise Scotty to make the top piece the same with the bottom equal in size. Would be easier and make the product better.

If you have a track system on your boat or kayak then these are the easiest way to add attachments without drilling into the craft. Easy on, easy off and you can add all kinds of attachments. Durable enough to last a long time a take a little abuse. One small warning though, if you use them as bases for rod holders while trolling keep an eye on the left side holder. A good yank, either fish on or hang up, will loosen the adapter a bit. Not a big deal just something to be aware of. Well worth the price.

When you twist to release, then try to remove the rod holder (sticky even with silicone lube) to change the angle they break free with difficulty and suddenly and come out completely and you risk losing the rod holder (and rod?) overboard (no I haven’t done it yet, but I can see it easily happening). There are better alternatives for rod holders and mounts out there, but if you have some Scotty rod holders laying around these will allow you to attach them to your kayak rails fairly easily. I think they are mostly “set it and forget it” rather than easily adjustable. I keep them around as spares for guests. They fit my Vibe SeaGhost 130 rails.

Great track mount adapter. Locks scotty accessories well and grips nicely to the track with the rubber grommet which has texture

This universal mounting piece works with all scotty mount products it appears if you buy anything scotty brand for your kayak your going to need one of these universal pieces to attach your rod holder, fishfinder base table, anchor mount ect…
